The HIGHLIGHTS vision: top quality, elegance, internationality
Over the past six years, the initiators of the HIGHLIGHTS International Art Fair in Munich have succeeded in establishing it as one of Germany’s leading fairs, an event of genuine quality whose appeal extends far beyond the borders of Bavaria or Germany. By November 2013, the FAZ newspaper was already asserting that HIGHLIGHTS had »leapt ahead of the competition«, while, last year, Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote: »The pieces on show left no doubt as to the calibre of this event.«

What makes HIGHLIGHTS so unique is that it not only sets outs to present the most exquisite art objects from each market sector, but also to exhibit them within a specially built space. The architecture and design of that space are by renowned Dutch architect and exhibition designer Tom Postma, whose other work includes the exhibition design for TEFAF in Maastricht and for ART Basel. At HIGHLIGHTS, the design is minimalist and non-intrusive, allowing the artworks to be the centre of attention. In areas that are a good fit and where juxtapositions make sense, exhibiting dealers share stands, creating joint presentations of art objects from various eras and continents.

For the fair’s organisers, high quality is key. Every year, they invite the best dealers from each field, and 2017 will thus once again see leading experts from Germany and beyond gathered together at the Residenz. Thanks to this commitment to excellence, HIGHLIGHTS has become a widely recognised name within just six short years, a name that stands for top quality, elegance and internationality.
